CLUB 100 CompLink CABLE DIAGRAMS

Below is the pin out diagram we use to make our ComputerLink cables for use with Lapdos II, DeskLink and WP2DOS Plus. They start out as null-modem cables then timing control is added via cross-pinning. Timing control is necessary to assure proper operations between the computers.

One of the most asked for null-modem cable, which we call a CompLink Cable, is the d25m to d9f. Below are two photos of this cable for those of you who wish to build your own cable. On the left of each photo is the back side of a 9f connector. The right side is the back side of a 25m connector. The photos click open to full screen photos. Study these photos and you will be able to build the correct cable, first time you try.

First, you need to cross-pin two sets of pins on each connector. This lets the respective computers take care of their own timing requirements.

Second, you connect a 3-conductor wire between the two connectors.

What I am not showing you is how to strip and tin the wires, solder the parts and put on the hoods. But those items are minor to getting the wires connected correctly.
